Contraception
Hormonal (Mirena, Kyleena, Jaydess) or copper coils fitted in clinic under local anaesthetic, with ultrasound guidance for accurate placement.
Outpatient sample
A small sample of the womb lining, taken in clinic, to investigate heavy or abnormal bleeding. Quick to perform and usually well tolerated.
Screening
A short test to check the health of your cervix, including HPV testing and a sample of the cervical cells. Quick, painless and one of the most effective cancer-prevention tests available.
Colposcopy clinic
A small tissue sample taken from the cervix, usually during a colposcopy. Quick, well tolerated, and the most reliable way to clarify what abnormal cells actually are.
Outpatient sample
A small tissue sample from the vulva, taken under local anaesthetic in clinic, to clarify the cause of skin changes, persistent itching or chronic symptoms.
Imaging
A detailed scan of the womb, ovaries and pelvic structures, performed and interpreted in clinic by Mr Orabi. Available abdominally, transvaginally, or both.
Prolapse care
Fitting, reviewing and replacing vaginal pessaries for pelvic-organ prolapse. A safe, effective and non-surgical option for many patients.
Investigations
Targeted hormone profile and women's health blood work, organised in clinic with results reviewed in a follow-up appointment.
Day-case and inpatient procedures performed at Jersey General Hospital and partner hospitals, typically under general anaesthetic.
Diagnostic & operative
Keyhole investigation of the pelvic and abdominal organs through a small camera. Used to diagnose and often treat conditions such as endometriosis, cysts and adhesions in the same operation.
Cervical treatment
A close-up look at the cervix using a magnifying instrument, with the option of treating abnormal cells in the same visit using a heated wire loop (LLETZ).
Fibroid removal
Surgical removal of fibroids while preserving the womb. A good option for women who would still like to have children, and for those who want to keep their uterus.
Major keyhole surgery
Keyhole removal of the womb, cervix and (where indicated) the fallopian tubes and ovaries. Faster recovery and smaller scars than open hysterectomy.
Laparoscopic surgery
Specialist keyhole surgery to fully remove endometriosis lesions: the gold standard for long-term pain relief and improved fertility outcomes.
Vulvovaginal surgery
A short reconstructive operation to relieve discomfort at the entrance of the vagina caused by tight or scarred tissue.
Day-case surgery
A short, gentle operation to empty the womb after an incomplete miscarriage, retained pregnancy tissue, or for some other gynaecological reasons.
Contraception
Coil fitting or removal at hospital under general anaesthetic. The right option where a previous attempt has been too painful, the cervix is difficult to access, or threads cannot be found.
Hysteroscopic surgery
Hospital removal of endometrial polyps using hysteroscopy, often with the MyoSure tissue-removal system. A short, scar-free procedure that's effective in a single visit.
Obstetric surgery
Delivery of a baby through a small incision in the lower abdomen and womb. Planned (elective) or emergency, performed safely and gently by an experienced consultant team.
