Obstetrics & maternity

Consultant obstetric care in Jersey.

Mr Orabi has more than twenty years' experience in obstetric care across the UK, Middle East and Africa, including high-risk pregnancies, twin deliveries, planned and emergency caesarean section, and complex postnatal care. He is part of the consultant team at Jersey General Hospital.

Caesarean section

Planned and emergency, with the same hands.

Whether your caesarean is planned weeks ahead or needed urgently in labour, the operation is performed with the same focus on safety, communication and recovery.

Planned (elective) Caesarean section

From 39 weeks

A planned caesarean is usually done from 39 weeks for medical or personal reasons: a breech baby, a low-lying placenta, pre-eclampsia, or an informed maternal choice. Mr Orabi takes time to talk through the operation in advance: what happens on the day, anaesthesia options, recovery, and future birth planning.

Emergency Caesarean section

24/7 on-call rota

An emergency caesarean is done where vaginal birth becomes unsafe (for example, where the baby is not coping with labour, where there is heavy bleeding, or where labour is not progressing safely). Mr Orabi has performed thousands of emergency caesareans across multiple health systems and is one of the consultants on the Jersey on-call rota.

Pregnancy care

Continuity from the first scan onwards.

  • Early pregnancy scans

An early pregnancy scan is usually the first ultrasound after a pregnancy is confirmed. It confirms the pregnancy is in the right place, checks how many babies you are carrying, investigates any early bleeding, and provides an accurate estimated due date. From around six weeks, the scan can usually detect a fetal heartbeat.

  • Maternity care plans & continuity of care

For private patients, Mr Orabi can offer a personalised maternity care plan: a fuller, continuity-of-care model where you see the same consultant throughout your pregnancy, with planned scans, growth monitoring, and a delivery plan tailored to your needs.

  • Twin pregnancy and delivery

Twin pregnancy needs closer monitoring than a single pregnancy: more scans, more careful planning, and a clear delivery plan well before the due date. Mr Orabi has extensive experience caring for twin pregnancies and supporting families through both vaginal and Caesarean twin deliveries.

Postnatal review

An appointment focused on you, not just the baby.

The weeks after birth deserve their own appointment focused on you, not just the baby. A postnatal review covers physical recovery, scar healing, pelvic floor, bleeding, mood and contraception. Where useful, Mr Orabi will arrange referral to women's health physiotherapy or counselling support.
